I made my first butternut squash soup for Thanksgiving Day. I was actually planning to make the turkey as well as apple pie for dessert. However, for some reason my dad started baking the turkey without my permission! I was actually quite angry, since I already had everything planned out. Grrr... And then I found a ready-made apple pie from Loblaws for $4 only, so I ended up just focusing on the soup.
It was my first time making butternut squash soup. I didn't know it would be such a hectic work and required so much time. Good thing it turned out great though, just a bit thick but the flavour was just about right.

A lovely cherry blossom cake that my partner and I did for a couple's wedding. We made the cherry blossoms out of fondant prior to the wedding. We arrived to the reception venue to place this on top and added the remaining decorations on the cake. A little bit nerve-wracking to do this in front of all the guests actually but at least it turned out great!

Inatei is one of the few Japanese restaurants that I enjoy going either for lunch or for dinner. They focus on quality food rather than fast and cheap set meals. Separating themselves from the many All-You-Can-Eat Japanese restaurants around, Inatei offers an assortment of appetizers, sunomono (vinegared dishes), sashimis, sushi rolls and robata-yakis (Off the grill). For those who prefer a more fulfilling hot dishes, Inatei also has a variety of set dinners and bento boxes. They also offer bento box for vegetarians, a very thoughtful touch in my opinion. They have a lot of set lunches to choose from actually, and that's because they cater towards the office workers in the area. It will take you awhile to really decide what you want to order as there are noodles, teriyaki, sushi/sashimi, bento and donburi combos. And each combo is served with a miso soup and salad.
