After a full work week of eating the same tasteless spinach salad for lunch, I just want to treat myself to something nice and sweet. Otherwise, I'm afraid my stomach will go on strike and my taste buds will get bored to death. Here is what sparked me for a simple and easy afternoon snack: my brother's case of Rice Krispies squares from Costco!
It didn't occur to me before that you can play around with these rice krispies. So I took out my muffin pan and squished my rice krispies into the mould to form a cup. And it became a very cute krispies cup! I seem to really like any food presentation that comes in a cup shape. Other than fancy cupcakes and salad chicken bacon cup, this is like the third kind of food cups that I've attempted. They look too adorable for my camera!

I had the honour to attend a fancy afternoon tea with my bff last weekend at the iconic Fairmont Royal York Hotel. My first experience high-teaing. Quality pastries, superb service, elegant decor, comfy environment, a perfect afternoon to catch up with a friend. I felt like a total noob for this, a noob coming from a suburban town to a fancy tea in downtown Toronto. At least this gave me an idea of how the Brits spend their afternoon. The whole tea experience lasted approximately 2 hours long. And boy, was I glad that I came with an empty stomach. I was quite full by the end of it.
The afternoon tea is available on every Saturday and Sunday in the Library Bar at Fairmont Royal York. Tea is served on fine china along with a 3-tiered platter of hand-crafted sandwiches and fine pastries.
