Zip-up and pullover hoodies in neutral colors are basics you can wear in many ways, and adding layers is both comfy and practical. You can add them both under and over your sweatshirt and thus be fully equipped for the chilly days ahead.

For example, to carry out your daily routine, you can dress comfortably by wearing a tight turtleneck or a thin knitted sweater under a zip-up sweatshirt. As for the lower part, the choice is quite wide depending on what you feel most comfortable in. These can be leggings, leather pants, cargos, or plain jeans.

You might have thought a hoodie isn’t cute and feminine, but pairing it with women's skirts can help you achieve both. In your younger age, the combination of hoodie and jeans was probably one of the most loved because it's wearable on many occasions, like casual gatherings in dorm rooms, going to school or college, walks, games, etc. On top of that, it's quite comfortable to stay in all day.

Whether it's denim pants or a more girlie look with jeans skirts, pairing jeans with a sweatshirt is a score and a desirable outfit for daily events.

Given that these two pieces of clothing belong to diametrically different styles, pairing them up seems unimaginable to someone. But by following a few simple rules, you can wear your favourite hoodie even to work or casual business gatherings.

For your workday, choose plain suits with a simpler cut. They already have a certain amount of casualty, so adding a hoodie isn't a total extravagance. As for a sweatshirt, choose slim models so they don't bunch up under a blazer and fall nicely over trousers. The blazer should be longer than the hoodie because it gives a touch of corporateness to your outfit.

Hoodie and suit are a powerful business combination, but you can wear them off work, too. You can have more freedom and go with oversized blazers or trench coats over hoodies. Wide leather pants, cargos, or shorts can help you rock this look.

If you opt for cropped hoodies, pair them with high-waist pants (let the sweatshirt fall slightly over the edge of the pants because showing off some skin isn't really desirable during colder days). If you want to look classy while wearing your striped body-con dress, then a dangling pearl earring will do the work.

However, be mindful that wearing bold earrings with a sexy outfit can overwhelm the entire look. Reserve those extra bold pearl earrings for simpler attires. For these cases, balance your aesthetics by wearing simple and dangling pearl earrings.

Patterns Matter

If you’re going for a skirt and a shirt outfit with remarkable patterns or bold prints, then you can choose a piece of jewelry with the same or similar pattern. If you wish, you can also select necklaces and bracelets that have the same pattern on their pendants.

This trick will balance your outfit and accessory without appearing trashy or too much. This strategy does not apply to all cases. You can go wild whenever possible.

Buying a dress is a process. It requires some thought. You also have to really get to know your own body to find the perfect dress. That is because one dress can look completely different on two different types of bodies. Finding the right fit is not just about choosing the correct dress size. Style plays a major role.

What a Dress Length Says About You

Length is a vital part of the choice of which dress to buy. The dress length you choose can say a lot about you. For example, a short dress can say “I feel flirtatious today.” A longer dress might give off a more professional message. A shorter dress might also help you express confidence in your lower body and accentuate your legs. A longer dress with a tight bodice, on the other hand, accentuates your upper body.

Dress Lengths You Can Pick From

Dresses do not simply come in short or long styles. You can choose from mini or maxi. There are also several in between sizes. For instance, you might buy a cocktail dress that ends around your knees or try a longer dress.  Not every dress is a club-going mini skirt or a floor-touching ball gown. Finding the length you need for the occasion and for your body is a major part of the dress buying battle.

In some cases, there are also variations within categories. For example, by definition a midi dress ends above your ankle. It also hangs at least below your knee. However, that leaves a lot of lower leg to play with. By selecting a midi dress that hangs a little bit higher or lower than exactly halfway down your lower leg, you can adjust your final appearance.

Choosing a Dress for Your Figure

Not everyone's figure is the same, obviously. Every person is an individual. However, in the dress world there are figure categories. One is hourglass. If you have an hourglass figure, a dress with a cinched waist and a tight bodice is a great choice to help you show it off. If your body is more of a pear shape, opt for dresses with flowing skirts to make your features appear more proportional. Also, select dresses that have more detailed bodice work or otherwise draw the eye toward your upper body.

There are several other body types you could potentially have. For instance, you might be an athlete with wide shoulders and a slender waist. The point is, look at your body shape and how a dress can compliment it. Your body type may lend itself well to a simple, straightforward shift dress or a frilled or otherwise embellished gown. Once you know, you can work with your body instead of against it.

Another Aspect of Your Body Type You Can Play With

Your general body shape is not easy to change, but your height is an aspect you can actually play with easily. It is not possible to change how tall you really are, but you can make yourself appear the height you want. For example, an asymmetrical dress gives the illusion of more height most of the time. So does a dress with some sort of waist sash. Footwear also changes how tall or short you appear while wearing any dress, so do not limit your dress choices in your mind just because you are on the short or tall side.

How to Find Your Personal Style and the Importance of it

I know it can be hard sometimes to feel pretty when the body is getting bigger by the hour. It also doesn’t help when your favourite pair of jeans no longer fit you. Although I don’t consider myself an expert, I can share a few tips on how to look stylish during this 10-month journey.

When I first started my pregnancy, I knew I didn't want to spend a lot of money on maternity clothing. To be honest, I'm a bit turned off by maternity clothes out there in the market. They either scream “I’m preggo!” in people’s faces or they just look very unflattering on the body. Companies need to come up with better maternity styles for mommies-to-be and help them feel pretty! Something that accentuates the new curves and is comfortable to wear.

So I took a look in my closet and see if there were items that I could still wear throughout the trimesters. Some of my favourite and go-to items are:

• Long Sweater Dress
• Bodycon Dress
• Knitted Pencil Skirt
• Pleated skirt 
• Paper bag pants
• Peplum Tops
• Loose fit blouse
• Swing dress

As my waistline got a bit out of hand and my jeans no longer fit, I invested in my first pair of maternity skinny jeans and they are a godsend! They are super stretchy with a cotton belly band attached at the waistline to cover the belly. If my tops are shorter or crop-fitted, I don’t need to worry about exposing my belly at all. I also borrowed another pair from my friend to wear interchangeably during the cold winter days. Paper bag pants are my go-to for office wear. They are forgiving for the bump and you can easily adjust the waist with the belt throughout your trimesters.

Avoid Too Many Layers

It’s probably not a good idea to look an extra few pounds during this time. Too much layering can make yourself look chunkier than normal. Plus, when you’re expecting, you become a human incubator and can feel extremely warm indoor. So, I’d suggest keeping your layers to the minimum.

Accentuate With a Fitted Silhouette

In my early pregnancy days when I was not ready to share the news, I’d wear a lot of peplum tops to hide my bump away. Peplums not only camouflage the bump, they also look cute when paired with maternity jeans. Even now that I’m in my third trimester, my peplums still fit me because they are so roomy at the waistline to accommodate my bump.

Accessorize

Many people underestimate how much accessorizing can do to elevate a look. Accessories work wonders on any plain outfits. Simply put on a piece of necklace or a pair of earrings and they can instantly make you look more sophisticated with that baby bump.

Chunky Heel to Add Height

It’s usually advised against wearing heels during your pregnancy but sometimes you just want that added height to make you look more stylish. My preferred method is to go with chunky heels or block heels. They are easier to balance in and give you some style for your feet to go with the rest of the outfit.

Monotone Chic

Dressing in all the same shade is so easy to do on days where you just don’t have time to colour coordinate your outfit. Simply just wear your top, bottom and shoes in the same colour (or in different shades of the same colour) and you’d look chic instantly.

Hello there! I just came back recently from a New Zealand cruise with the Diamond Princess (stories to come!) and I want to share some outfit ideas and tips with you on what to wear for a cruise formal night. I actually thought of this topic while I was cruisin' ha ha. To give you some background, I've been on 5 cruises to date, with some of the major lines. And every time when I go on a cruise, I always find myself struggling on what to bring so that I don't end up packing my entire closet in a suitcase. If you're new to #cruiselife, you'll probably wonder what you should bring and wear on board too. Especially when your travel agent tells you that there are X number of formal nights...

But, don't worry! Here's a compilation of few of my outfits from different cruises and some of the things I learned about formal dinner attire on a cruise to give you some ideas.

Pick a versatile pair of evening shoes

Coordinate your outfits so that the same pair of evening shoes could match. That way, you could free up some luggage space for other items. This is particular important for me and what I've been trying to do more on recent cruises. I often travel elsewhere prior or after the cruise so it has become a no brainer for me to pack light. A heavy suitcase is the last thing I want to lug around when I travel! But, on the contrary, you'll require a lot of different attire when you're on board. So, something I could wear repeatedly is now a key to win a space in my suitcase.

For example: You could coordinate a colour scheme so that you could wear the same evening shoes for all formal nights. A pair of black pumps are very versatile and could easily go with any kind of outfits. If I plan to wear something more vibrant or with prints on it, I'd prefer to stick with my neutral colour pumps such as silver or nude. And if you are planning to wear a long evening gown (like these), chances are nobody could see what you're wearing underneath the dress, so repeating the same pair of pumps is really something worth to consider.
